bury me

when we die 
give our bodies to the earth
not carelessly 
but softly, with steady hands
and when the earth receives us
tell her we liked her
sunflowers
caterpillars
mud
that we used her trees to write
and her water to drink
tell her these things
so when you give her our bodies
careless
wasteful
violent
she will not spit us out
as oil or ash
but air and life
